Through the Noise

What starts as advice ends in misogyny.

Raising a boy who doesn't fall for it, and doesn't pass it on.

Sixty minutes with Stacey Yates Sellar. Watch it tonight, pause at every prompt to write, and come back to it whenever he says something that frightens you.

You can see it now. That's the hard part done.

If you've read It Takes 23 Minutes, you know what arrived, why it wasn't on your radar, and what to watch for in your own son. That's the noticing, and most parents never get there.

The guide is about your son in general. This hour is about your son.

Because here's what makes it hard. The content isn't the problem. It answers five things a boy might be feeling, and it answers them faster and more confidently than anyone else was going to. Not one of those five is about women. The misogyny arrives underneath, later, attached to something that felt useful.

Which is why taking the phone doesn't work, and why explaining what's wrong with the video doesn't either. You've probably already tried both.

Sixty minutes, eight written prompts, and you leave with your own answers on paper.

What we'll cover

Sixty minutes of what to actually do, built for the boy with ADHD, autism or a PDA profile. Bring a pen, because you'll be pausing to write.

One

What it's actually selling him

The five needs it answers, in the words a boy would actually use. Why he came for advice about confidence and money. And the five-step switch that turns that into somebody to blame.

Two

Which one is your son's

What you might see and what you might hear for each of the five. How to tell an unmet need from an ordinary ND baseline. And why the boy who gets louder may be further along than the one who goes quiet.

Three

The loop you're already in

You'll name your own, in three lines, in your own handwriting. Then why first responders never decide in the moment, and what that means for the next time he says something that frightens you.

Four

Subtract, then add

The ratio exercise, which is the most uncomfortable ten minutes of the hour. What the research actually says about warmth versus punishment. And four things that cost him nothing.

Five

Build the pack, and make the call

Why you can't be the whole thing on your own, what actually beats an influencer, and the exact phone call to make to the one man who won't think of it himself. You'll write down who, what, and when.

And then

Practice, and the pause

He says the thing you dread. You write what you'd actually say, then a second version whose only job is to keep him talking. Then you build him an if-then plan, the one tool that works when his impulse is faster than his judgment.

This is for you if

  • Your son is somewhere between nine and seventeen and neurodivergent, whether or not anyone has confirmed it on paper.
  • Something has shifted in the last year and you can't quite name what.
  • You've taken the phone before and watched it make everything worse.
  • You'd rather understand what's happening than police it.

This isn't for you if

  • You want parental control software recommendations. We won't cover them.
  • You're after a script that makes him stop watching a specific thing this week.
  • You want a list of influencer names to block. The names change, and chasing them costs you.
  • You're hoping for something you can do to him rather than with him.
  • You haven't read the free guide yet. Start there, it's the map. This is the terrain.

Who's teaching this

I'm Stacey Yates Sellar. I'm a conscious parenting coach trained directly under Dr. Shefali Tsabary, with an Applied Positive Psychology certification, and I've spent more than 10 years running live support groups for families raising neurodivergent kids.

I'm also the mum of an AuDHD son with anxiety and a PDA profile. So I've done more experiments, trial and error, and real-time learning that is impossible to squeeze into a 30-second reel.

This masterclass pulls together research from Niobe Way, Lisa Damour, Peggy Orenstein, Russell Barkley, Naomi Fisher, Gordon Neufeld and Deb Dana, and puts it through the one lens most of that work is missing: how does all of this work in your house, with your child.

He's waiting to feel understood.

Toxic content offers him a counterfeit of exactly that. The antidote is a more real version of the same thing, from someone who isn't going anywhere. Come and find out how to be that.
